Portable Sawmilling

Bespoke Timber Cutting Mobile Saw Mill

Portable Sawmilling

Mobile sawmilling service that brings the mill to you. Turn felled or fallen trees into usable timber, right on-site, with minimal waste and maximum impact.

What We Do

At Treecycle, we bring the sawmill to you.

Our portable sawmilling service is a practical, sustainable solution for anyone with a felled, fallen, or soon-to-be-removed tree. Rather than sending your timber away (or worse, sending it to landfill or firewood), we mill it right where it lies. Using a professional-grade mobile mill, we turn raw logs into high-quality planks, beams, or slabs that are ready to be air-dried, worked on, or stored.

We can cut to your chosen dimensions, advise on how to get the best out of your timber, and make sure nothing goes to waste. Offcuts, bark, and sawdust? We leave it up to you – use them for compost, mulch, or even kindling. No heavy machinery needed, no costly timber haulage, just smart, respectful use of what’s already in front of you.

Whether your tree came down in a storm, was felled for safety, or removed as part of a land management plan, we help give it a second life, right where it grew.

Who we do it for

Treecycle works with a wide range of clients across the North West and beyond. Our portable sawmilling service is ideal for:

  • Private landowners and homeowners
Have a tree in your garden that needs to come down? Don’t lose it to the chipper – we can help you to turn it into shelves, cladding, benches or future furniture.
  • Woodland managers and estates
If you’re managing trees for health, safety or biodiversity, we can turn your removed timber into usable wood for projects on-site.
  • Conservation and heritage groups
Keep materials local and reduce environmental impact. We’ve worked with the National Trust, forest schools, and land-based education programmes.
  • Joiners, makers and craftspeople
Sourcing quality wood from known, local origins is often difficult. If you’ve got access to a tree, we’ll help you turn it into workable timber, sustainably and efficiently.

We tailor every visit to the site, the species, and your goals, so whether you’re building, crafting, or just storing the wood for later, we make sure it’s done right.

Result/Impact

The end result? You’re left with a stack of timber, full of character and ready for its next chapter.

It could become garden furniture, fencing, cladding, or a special table to remember the tree by. Some clients use their milled timber to build raised beds or seating areas; others season it for future carpentry or creative projects. Because we cut to size on-site, you know exactly what you’re getting, and where it came from.

The environmental impact is just as important.

  • No timber waste
  • No unnecessary transport
  • No reliance on imported wood
  • No energy-intensive processing
And best of all — your timber stays rooted in the local story of your land, home, or project.

More about the process

Portable sawmilling might sound high-tech, but it’s rooted in simple, respectful values: use what you have, waste nothing, and work with the grain.

When you book a job with Treecycle, we’ll:

  • Assess your logs or felled tree to confirm it’s suitable for milling
  • Set up the mobile sawmill safely and cleanly on your site
  • Talk through the cut sizes and wood grain, depending on your goals
  • Mill the wood on-site, often within a single day
  • Leave you with neatly stacked, labelled timber, and a very satisfying result

The equipment is designed to be low impact, and in most cases, no damage is done to your lawn, garden, or woodland. We always aim to leave the site clean, respectful, and better than we found it.

Why it matters

Many trees are taken down every year due to age, safety concerns, weather damage or planned work. Most of them are either chopped for firewood or discarded entirely.

Treecycle exists to change that.

Our portable sawmilling gives trees a second purpose, turning what would otherwise be ‘waste’ into long-lasting timber. It’s better for the environment, better for your wallet, and better for future generations.
